This dialog box is used to select options when comparing two configuration files. The result of the comparison is displayed in a Diff Output Window.
Left File
Type a filename or click the button to choose the left configuration file.
Right File
Type a filename or click the button to choose the right configuration file.
Show properties whose values are equal
Check the box in order to display properties that are common to both files and whose values are equal.
Show properties whose values differ
Check the box in order to display properties that are common to both files and whose values are unequal.
Show properties unique to the left file
Check the box in order to display properties that are unique to the left file.
Show properties unique to the right file
Check the box in order to display properties that are unique to the right file.
Show property values
Check the box in order to display the value of properties that are displayed.
Output When Configuration Files Are Compared
The following conventions are used when displaying the differences between two configuration files:
The output is divided into three sections:
Properties common to both files
Properties unique to the left file
Properties unique to the right file
Properties are sorted within each major section by property path.
Properties unique to a particular file are prefaced with the following line:
############## Unique to "file name":
The property value appears indented on a separate line preceding the property path.
Example (the words “Path” and “Value” do not appear): Path: MeiXmlConfig.Control 0.MPIControlConfig.axisCount Value: 4
Property values are not displayed unless the “Show property values” option is selected.
The values that are common to both files and are not equal are displayed, prefaced with the image for the value in the left file and for the value in the right file.
