Filter File
This option is used to specify a filter file to be applied when uploading/downloading configuration to/from a controller. The filter may also be applied when opening configuration files (see Apply filter when opening config files).

See Filter Files for details.

Status Bar
This specifies the format of the configuration element path displayed in the Status Bar. The text in the Status Bar can be selected and copied into the clipboard. This can be useful when creating a filter file.

There are two formats in which the path can be displayed.

  1. Object type of selected element
In this case, the type of each object in the path is displayed, as opposed to the instance.

    Example: Control.FilterList.Filter.MPIFilterConfig.gain.gain.PIV.noise.filterFFT

  2. Instance name of selected element
In this case the instance name for each element in the path is displayed.

    Example: Control 0.FilterList.Filter 3.MPIFilterConfig.gain.gain 3.PIV.noise.filterFFT

Apply filter when opening config files
Check this box when it is desirable to automatically apply the current filter file when configuration files are opened. If this box is not checked, then configuration files will be displayed “as is.” The current filter file will be applied when downloading to a controller regardless of whether or not this box is checked.

NOTE: Applying a filter may increase the time that it takes to open a file. If applying the filter file actually removes configuration elements, then the file will be flagged as being modified. If this is the case, then the user will be prompted to save or discard the changes when the file is closed.

Unnecessary elements can be automatically removed from a configuration file by following this procedure:

  1. Open the Preferences window to the General tab.
  2. Specify a Filter File that filters out the unwanted elements.
  3. Check the checkbox "Apply filter when opening config files."
  4. Click OK.
  5. Open the file.
  6. Save as a new file or overwrite the current file.

Show Tips On Startup
Check this box in order to display tips when the meiConfigGui starts up.

Display modifications on download
Check this box in order to display modified configuration elements when a file is downloaded to a controller. When downloading a file, any configuration element that is modified from it’s current state on the controller will be dislplayed with the following format:

     MODIFIED: <Path>
Old value: "value prior to download"
     New value: "value after download"

For example:
     MODIFIED: Control 0.MPIControlConfig.axisCount
     Old value: "8"
     New value: "4"

Do not upload unused configurations
Check the box in order to produce configuration files in which unused elements are omitted. Such files are less useful for general editing, but are much smaller.

Uncheck the box in order to save all configuration elements when a file is uploaded from a controller.

Logging Tab

Output is displayed in the Output Window. Optionally, output can also be logged to a file. This can be useful when there is a very large amount of data to display.

Log File
In this control, the user can type in the path to a log output file.

Log File Browse Button
Click this button to browse for a log output file.

Enable Logging
Enable logging to a file. When logging is enabled, all text that streams to the output window will also stream to the logging file. Enabling logging will truncate the log file. The log file is also truncated when the meiConfigGui starts up.
