Troubleshooting:
Motion Supervisor and Axes Mapping

Clearing Fault Problems

Problem

You may experience a problem when clearing faults on your application or through a Motion Supervisor. If an error or stopping state occurs and you are NOT able to clear the fault when pressing the Clear Faults button under a Motion Supervisor, then you need to verify that your axes are properly mapped.

Background

There are two different types of setups where you may experience problems clearing the faults.

Case 1
An axis is mapped under two different Motion Supervisors, where one Motion Supervisor manages other axes.

Case 2

An axis is mapped under two different Motion Supervisors, where each Motion Supervisor also manages other axes.

Solutions

  • Create a Motion Supervisors that has all axes mapped to it.
For example, in the setup below, MS 3 can be used to clear the faults on all axes.
    Motion Supervisor Axis
    0 0
    1 0,1
    2 1,2
    3 0,1,2

  • Another option is to do a one-to-one mapping (only one axis is mapped to a Motion Supervisor).
    Motion Supervisor Axis
    0 0
    1 1
    2 2
