CAN Bit Rate The CANOpen standard defines a set of bit rates that can be supported. Any CANOpen node must support at least one of these bit rates. All the nodes on the CAN network must be operating at the same bit rate. Any of these standard bit rates can be used with the XMP. Due to the electrical characteristics of a CAN network, the maximum length of a CAN network (and the corresponding drop lengths) is dependent upon the bit rate that is chosen. See the table below. It is recommended that opto-isolated nodes are used on networks with bus lengths longer than 200m.
