Downloading firmware and FPGA images to the eXMP-SynqNet in Linux

To download firmware to the controller, use the Linux “flash” utility, located in the MEI directory (default location: C:\mei).

Make sure that the .bin is located in the same directory as the flash utility. Be sure to include a “./” before entering the name of any utility.

To download the firmware to the controller, type “./flash firmware_name.bin” in the command prompt and press Enter. See the example below:

bash-2.05b# ./flash XMP575A2.bin
Loading flash memory from "XMP575A2.bin" ...
Code loaded and verified from "XMP575A2.bin".
FPGAs loaded and verified from
233_9201.fpg
Resetting motion controller...done.
bash-2.05b#

To download the drive firmware and FPGA image to the drive, use the sqNodeFlash utility.

Again, make sure that both the firmware and the FPGA image are included in the same directory.

To download the FPGA image, type “./sqNodeFlash -file file_name.sff -node NODE#” in the command prompt and press Enter. See the following example:

bash-2.05b# ./sqNodeFlash -file C0FE0035_0346.sff -node 0 Downloading file C0FE0035_0346.sff to Synqnet Node #0....
100 percent complete
Successful
bash-2.05b#

To download the drive firmware, the “kollmorgen_ember.a00” file also needs to be included in the mei directory.

Type “./sqNodeFlash -driveImage -file file_name.i00 -drive DRIVE#” in the command prompt and press Enter. See the following example:

bash-2.05b# ./sqNodeFlash -driveImage -file pDad_1001.i00 -drive 0
Downloading file pDad_1001.i00 to Synqnet Node #0 Drive #0....
100 percent complete
Successful
bash-2.05b#
