Setting the Date and Time using Hyperterminal

XPe

There are two ways to set the time and date on an eXMP-SynqNet. You can either use the Remote Desktop or a HyperTerminal session.

If you receive the following error message and do not know the IP address of the eXMP, you will need to follow the directions below to set the date and time through a HyperTerminal session. However, if you know the eXMP's IP address or name, use Remote Desktop to Set the Date and Time.

Symptom: The system time or date is invalid which is preventing XP embedded from successfully completing the boot up process.

Hyperterminal will show that an initial boot occurred, but the IP configuration information will not be displayed.

If you do not know the IP address or name of the eXMP, use the console port and HyperTerminal to set the time and date via the BIOS. Follow the steps below:

1. Reboot the eXMP.

2. Press Ctrl-C during the BIOS startup.

3. Select Basic CMOS Configuration.

4. Configure the Date and Time. Press the Esc button to exit the Basic screen.

5. Select Write to CMOS and Exit.

6. The eXMP-SynqNet will reboot and complete a full-boot. The the IP configuration information should now be displayed.
